Baby books for Christmas: Birth to 6 months

It’s never too soon to introduce books to babies and what better at this time of year than to snuggle up for a good Christmas read with your baby. Here are four of our Christmas favourites.

Spot’s First Christmas, by Eric Hill

It’s Christmas Eve, and Spot is helping (and hindering) with the last-minute preparations. Little lift-up flaps reveal him searching for his Christmas present, climbing up the Christmas

tree, opening the door to carol singers and finally going to bed. Next morning he’s delighted to find that Father Christmas has brought

him a splendid blue collar.Published by Frederick Warne, £4.99

Elmer’s Weather, by David McKee

There’s all kinds of weather in this lovely book starring Elmer the patchwork elephant who flies in the wind, watches the shapes in the clouds and I feel quite envious of those elephant

trunks, which are just perfect for throwing snowballs!Published by Andersen Press, £2.99

The Great Santa Surprise, by Suzy-Jane Tanner

Here’s a simple lift-the-flap book all about the presents Santa
has left for a group of animals. Each present is hidden beneath a lift-up flap and the reader is invited to guess what’s inside the parcel. The story ends with the animals giving Santa a present back. Santa is very pleased with his fluffy teddy bear.Published by David Bennett Books, £3.99

Dog Days, by Krisztina Nagy

This wonderful pop-up book of doggy characters and moods covers both the concept of opposites and a full range of dog breeds! From big dogs and small dogs to hairy dogs and smooth dogs, the delightful pop-up characters are sure to keep both babies and grown-ups entertained alike.Published by David & Charles, £6.99
