No Fertility Crisis in UK

Researchers who studied the average time it took couples to conceive say that fertility is on the increase despite the falling quality of British sperm.

It was found that between 1961 and 1965, 65 percent of couples managed to conceive within six months. Between 1991 and 1993, the rate had climbed to 72%.

The study, published in the Lancet, could not find out why the rise had taken place and actually said that the modern trend to have children later in life is more likely to decrease fertility than improve it.

The researchers concluded that if there has been a decline in male fertility in recent years, it has been counteracted by an increase in couple fertility.
