A cough is a reflex reaction to some form of irritation in the throat or airways and is
the body’s attempt to clear or cough up mucus. No cough medicine can cure a cough,
all they can do is suppress it, which may not be a good thing.
Since babies have small, narrow air passages, even very minor infections can cause a
cough in toddlers or wheeziness in babies. If your child has a cough which troubles him
enough for you to consider giving him a cough mixture, you should first check his
condition with your doctor.
