Go on – have a rant!

Kim Draper is fed up with foul language

“I am unable to sit there and allow my child to hear such language…”

There is only one thing that totally drives me insane is the language I hear everyday. I t does not matter where we are or what we are doing but at some point we are subjected to foul mouth language form someone.

For myself I can ignore it but when I am with my 4 year old it makes me so angry. What has happened to make the use of swear words so acceptable in every day society? I could be on a bus, in the supermarket even a restaurant and I will hear someone swearing about something.

The use of foul language is so wide spread from children to grown adults.

Though the major situation I hear it in is on a bus taking school-aged children to and from school or when I am out shopping. I am unable to sit there and allow my child to hear such language and on many occasions have asked the person swearing to stop as I don’t want my child to hear or even worse repeat such language.

When ever I have challenged someone it amazes me to see the reaction of shock register on their face not because they realise how awful they sound but actually because they do not see it as a major issue.

It is a sad fact of reality that today people are unable to express themselves without the use of swear words.

I write this not as a fuddy duddy or someone who is unable to have fun but as a 33 year old woman who is intelligent enough to express myself without having to rely on a few basic swear words. Such a shame many others today are unable to do this.
