Pirates and Princesses day at hop farm, Kent
I’m Linda and single mum to my son Liam who was 3 and we reviewed the Pirates and Princesses event at the Hop Farm, Kent for half term.

It was a beautiful day the sun was shining and there wasn’t a rain cloud in sight.
We walked through the doors and I knew straight away it was going to
be a brilliant day. Liam didn’t know where to look, his eyes darted here
there and everywhere and then landed on the pillows, which look like upside
down bouncy castles!!! He had been on these only once before and could
barely stand up, he couldn’t wait to try again.
We headed for the Big Top where most of the themed activities were taking
place, we missed the party games but managed to join in with the singing,
although Liam was shy so we sat round the outside and sang to each other.
We had great fun and decided to stay for the magic show, we didn’t see
it all as Liam wanted to investigate. He wanted to go on the carousel
but was too small, he wanted to go on the train and even try the bungee
jumping!!! There was lots to do and see and keep Liam and myself entertained
for the day. We saw lots of children dressed as pirates and princesses
entering into the spirit of the day.
We decided to sit down to eat our packed lunch and easily found a picnic
table. Liam was too excited to eat much and wanted to decorate a fairy
cake so we made our way to Happy Hoppers where Liam duly decorated his
cake and promptly ate it!!!!
The smaller carousel was just starting up and Liam wanted to go on it,
he tried out the digger and US Army car and wanted to stay on for another
go but I decided it might be a good time to go back to the Big Top and
make a sword out of a balloon!! It was much easier to make than I thought
and Liam had great fun trying not to pop it!!
Liam wanted to try the pillows and started to run towards them. Before
I could take his shoes off he was scrambling towards it and preparing
to jump for his life. I managed to retrieve him take his shoes off and
just let him jump and jump and jump. He had the most fantastic time and
all I could think was what a great way to get a good work-out. What was
even better was that there were 2 pillows – one for under 4s and one for
over 4s.
After about 20 minutes we went back into the Big Top and watched the
audience take part in the interactive story of the Princess and the Toad.
I had promised Liam that he could go back on the pillows, so we headed
off there again. Once again Liam jumped for his life and had a ball. He
was joined by a couple of other children and the all jumped together,
giggling away.
Hop Farm is clean, friendly and great for all children and adults alike.
It’s the first time I have been there and would definitely go back. The
restaurant is very fairly priced as is Happy Hoppers, there are a couple
of soft play areas for when the sun is not shining and more than one place
where you can buy a cup of tea or coffee. Toilets are conveniently located
and again are clean and fully stocked. There is lots to see and do for
all children up to the age of 10 and is a great family day out.
