How to find out more about antenatal testing

Whether you are already pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant, there are many
people and resources who can give help or advice on antenatal testing. These include:

•   Your family
•   Friends who have had antenatal tests 
•   Your GP
•   Your midwife (a midwife may well be based at your local surgery)
•   Clinical genetics counsellor
•   Voluntary organisations*

There are several useful books on antenatal testing:

•   National Childbirth Trust Book of Antenatal Tests by Mary Nolan (published by
  Thorsons/National Childbirth Trust Publishing).
•   Is My Baby All Right? by Christine Gosden, Kypros Nicolaides, Vanessa Whitting
  (published by Oxford University Press).

There are also several antenatal screening services and research institutes who will
send you excellent booklets about the different tests, eg:
