Most prams and pushchairs come with some accessories – check what’s included before you buy. There is also a range of optional extras which you may find useful, though they may add to the overall cost considerably.
What’s available
- Carrycots need a mattress, liner and apron, plus bedding of sheets and blankets
- Pushchairs need cosytoes or footmuffs for warmth and protection and, depending on the weather, an extra blanket underneath
- Many designs will have an integral collapsible hood; in addition you will need a rain
cover which covers the whole pram or pushchair and a parasol or sun canopy for protection on sunny days - An alternative to a rain cover for a buggy is a zip-up cape which goes over the
pushchair, with a hood in the middle to keep your child’s head dry. These are ideal
for travelling as they don’t take up much space when not in use - Clip-on nets or shopping baskets are available for buggies
- For a co-ordinated look, many pram and pushchair manufacturers make a nappy changing bag that matches their fabrics
- There are many toys available for babies and young children designed to fit onto a pram or pushchair. These may help prevent your baby from getting bored and restless in the pushchair
