  • Problems accessing some areas of babyworld – cookies

If you are experiencing problems accessing some parts of babyworld this is probably because of your cookie settings. To check your cookie settings follow these instruction:

The cookie settings in IE6 are under tools > internet options > privacy settings.

    1. Set the cookie handling slider to ‘medium’.
    2. Use custom handling, overriding the automatic handling,
and accept cookies – or at least tick the ‘always accept
      session cookies’ box.
    3. Probably the recommended way: in the privacy window click
the ‘edit’ button under the web sites section at the bottom,
and add ‘babyworld.co.uk’ to the list of sites allowed to
      use cookies.

If you’re experiencing problems accessing the member area of babyworld then it
may be because of your browser settings. Ensure that
your browser settings are correct to access babyworld by following these
    instructions:

    1. babyworld is best viewed through – and has been built for use with
    – browsers Internet
Explorer and Netscape version 4.0 and above. If you’re not using either of
these browsers or you’re using an older version, this could be the cause of your
    problems.

    2. Because of the complexity of the site, we need you to have certain settings on your
browser  (ie Internet Explorer or Netscape) turned on. Don’t worry,
it’s not difficult and you don’t have to be online to make the changes!

    3. First we need to figure out which version of which browser you’re
using – programmers tend to move things around, so the
    instructions are different each time.

Find out which browser you’re using, and what version
    it is

    • Open your browser (you don’t have to be online). Point your mouse up to the
Help’ menu in the very top menu. Click help. You will see a menu drops
      down.
    • If at the bottom of this menu it says ‘About Internet Explorer’ you’re using
the Internet Explorer browser. Click ‘About Internet Explorer‘ and a
      small
window will open. This tells you which version of the Internet Explorer browser you’re using (3.02, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 etc).
    • If the the bottom of the menu says ‘About Communicator/Netscape Navigator
then you are using the Netscape browser. Click ’About
      Communicator
      ‘ and a
small window will open. This tells you which version of the Netscape browser you’re
      using.

NOTE: If you’re using an old version of either browser (i.e. version 3.x
of Internet Explorer, or, version 3.x of Netscape Navigator), we advise you to update your
browser. There have also been intermittent reports of problems with any version of
Internet Explorer before version 4.2. The cheapest way of updating your browser is to buy
a recent computer magazine with a frontcover CD; these usually have the most up-to-date
browsers stored on the cover CD.
