Prolonging the Life of Your Pushchair
A pushchair is an essential item for any baby or young
child, and with regular use it is likely to be subjected to a lot of wear
and tear. Just like a car, your pushchair needs maintaining to make sure
that everything is working smoothly, in order to secure the safety of
your child and prolong the life of your pushchair.
In order to keep your pushchair in good working order, it
is important to carry out the following procedure every 3 months or so:
- Remove the fabric covers or make sure they are protected
- Wash down the chassis using a hosepipe or showerhead to remove any
mud, grit or dust, especially from the wheels and joints - Dry the unit – if you have a hair dryer this can be used for quickness
- Spray the joints, runners, wheels etc with silicone spray such as
WD-40, making sure that you cover all major moving parts. Do not use
heavy oil, as this will attract dirt and grit - To ensure that the silicone spray gets thoroughly into all essential
areas, open and close the unit, wheel it around and operate the brakes - Finally, wipe off any excess spray and replace the covers
