Cley
Windmill – Cley
This famous windmill (it featured in the 1949 film ‘Conspirator’ with
Elizabeth Taylor as well as in some Ruth Rendell TV mysteries) dates
from the early 18th century and enjoys fantastic views over salt marshes
and the Cley Bird Sanctuary towards the north Norfolk coast. It offers
B&B accommodation in seven rooms in the windmill itself and self-catering
accommodation in a couple of surrounding buildings. Children will love
the novelty of staying in a windmill and if you enjoy long walks by
the sea, you need only pop on your coats and take a short walk across
the salt marshes to a fantastic shingle beach nearby. Be warned, though:
the popularity of the place means it does get booked in far in advance,
particularly in peak season.
Price: Prices start at £78 per room per night for bed and breakfast
