You’re more likely to get pregnant if you’re fit, and your body will cope better with both pregnancy and labour.
- Aim for three lots of 20-minute exercise a week as a minimum – still time to get a few sit-ups in now!
- Look at your diet – is there enough folic acid?
- If you’re having a Valentine’s meal, either cook or select from the menu, food that is rich in folic acid and give yourself a last minute boost! You can choose from: asparagus, sweetcorn or chickpeas for a boost.
- Book yourself in with the GP for a rubella shot if you are planning to conceive soon and your immunity might be down. The best time is three months before you start trying.
- Stub out the fags – smoking reduces both your chances of conceiving and your chances of carrying a baby to full-term.
