Laxatives
Once the bane of Victorian toddlers’ lives, laxatives – though still available over the counter – are no longer considered appropriate for most children aged under two. Indeed, their use can cause serious bowel problems. If your baby or toddler is constipated, try giving a few spoonfuls of fresh orange juice diluted with boiled, cooled water or, if they are taking solids, more fresh fruit and vegetables. This almost always works – if not seek medical advice.
