During Fairtrade Fortnight, (27th Feb – 11th March) Organic Monkey are inviting mums and their little monkeys’ up and down the country to take part in their ‘baby’s first steps to Fairtrade’ campaign.
Babyworld members have the chance to to win one of FIVE Nourish, Relieve and Protect gift sets. Organic Monkey is the first Fairtrade certified baby skincare range and all of their products contain as many Fairtrade ingredients as possible. Fairtrade provides a better deal for producers in developing countries, creating opportunities for farmers and workers to improve their lives, their communities and to protect their environment.
To celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight’s ‘Take a step for Fairtrade’ campaign, Organic Monkey are inviting local nursery groups, mums and their little monkeys’ to take part in their ‘Baby’s first steps to Fairtrade’ campaign by making their baby’s foot-print pledge, painted onto paper or something more creative, along with their baby’s name to support Fairtrade products. The artwork will be exhibited on the ‘Organic Monkey pledge wall’ and the most creative footprint pledges will be in with the chance to win the full range of Organic Monkey goodies
Here are some of the real stories behind the ingredients that go into Organic Monkey products:
Organic and Fairtrade Shea Butter
Processed from nuts gathered from the karite tree grown in Northern Ghana. Organic Monkey work with a women’s co-operative that hand-make our Organic Shea Butter using age-old traditional methods and produce up to 150 tonnes of butter each year. This fair trade project provides employment, financial independence, nursery and schooling for a community of 600 women and their families.
Shea Butter has great moisturising, nourishing and anti-inflammatory properties so is perfect for baby’s skin. Naturally occurring vitamins A and E protect skin and improve conditions including, redness and eczema. It’s used in ‘Bumfluff’ Nappy Balm
Organic & Fairtrade Olive Oil
Organic Moneky high quality oil is produced in Palestine using traditional farming methods and provides much needed income to eight co-operatives of 265 Palestinian olive farmers, struggling to make a living. The Fairtrade premium brings stability to farmers, providing as much as 50% of their annual income. It prevents the abandonment of the land and helps the olive producers, their families and communities earn enough for today and to build a better future.
Olive oil’s nourishing, softening and protecting properties make it perfect for baby’s (and mummies) skin. It’s also anti-inflammatory, so great for treating skin irritations. Olive oil is used in Hello Mellow’ Organic Massage Oil, ‘Bumfluff’ Organic Nappy Balm, ‘Cheeky Monkey’ Organic Cheek Rub Oil for Teething, ‘Rock the Cradle’ Organic Scalp Oil and ‘Belly Better’ Organic Tummy Oil.
