It is sad to think that two thirds of Dads won’t be unwrapping a present this Father’s Day.
According to research VoucherCodes.co.uk their children will spend an average of £21.21 on gifts whilst an unlucky one in ten Dads are set to receive a present worth less than a fiver. Mums fared much better with 43 per cent receiving gifts for Mother’s Day.
It’s not all bad news for Dad though as the average spend is just enough to get him a DVD box set of Game of Thrones and a card. The smash TV hit series, based on George R.R. Martin’s best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire, topped the VoucherCodes.co.uk Fathers’ Day Wish List.
A bottle of whisky remains a firm favourite amongst discerning Dads, coming second on the list, whilst more than a few Fathers could be accused of wishful thinking after naming iPad 3 their third most wanted gift. Gary Neville’s first successful season as a Sky Sports pundit has seen his popularity rocket with his debut autobiography Red: My Autobiography the fourth most desired present this year. Despite being the subject of many jokes, practical Dads put a pair of socks in fifth place, above a rally driving experience (eighth place).
The VoucherCodes.co.uk Fathers’ Day Wish List:

- iPad3
- Red: My Autobiography by Gary Neville

- Nespresso Pixie Titanium
- Shirt

The Welsh are the most generous splashing out an average of £28 on a present, whilst Dads in Norwich will have a rather more miserly £17 spent on them.
“While Mums get made a fuss of, unfortunately Dads typically lose out when it comes to presents, especially on Father’s Day. If you haven’t bought a gift yet, there’s still time to go out and get one and make sure your Dad isn’t one of the unlucky ones on Sunday.”
“No matter how much money you have to spend, searching online always unearths some great deals and discounts so make sure you shop around and find a gift that he’ll love.“
