Top Baby Names of 2012

Baby nameSo we’ve seen the best and worst of the celebrity baby name choices, but what about us mere mortals?  Maybe you have a little bundle on the way and are looking for inspiration or you may be hoping that your little one’s name hasn’t made it on to the ‘least popular’ list – either way we have them here, hot off the press, Britain’s most and least favoured names for 2012:

Statistics gathered by Britain’s most popular baby-naming website have found that Ethan and Eva are the top two names for newborns in 2012 in a list dominated by old-fashioned and traditional names.

BabyNames.co.uk found that boys’ names such as Oliver, Charlie and Jack continued to dominate parental choices throughout the year, as did the ever-popular Amelia, Alice and Ella for girls.

The bottom end of the list sees the recent rush for unusual names finally coming to an end, with the likes of Gracie-Mai, Charlee, Truman and Trent falling out of fashion.

  1. I’m pleased to see Niamh nor Keelin are on neither list, I like to think I’ve chosen nice names which won’t date and are very personal to us :-)
There are some gorgeous names on the top 20 list this year :-)
