As our “babies” celebrate their 6th birthdays I thought I would justdrop you a line to tell you that the October 2000 antenatal club was one of the best things that happened to me. Six years on there’s a “hard core” of 7 of us who are still in daily contact. We’ve had girlie weekends away together, breaks with our entire families along (I think there were nearly 30 of us counting partners, siblings and our October 2000 babies!) & they are still the people I turn to first for help & advice, when I’m bored at work, or just for a laugh!
We keep joking that we should try to get our emails to each other published (imagine how many there are now after 6.5 years!), as they contain the stories of such an important stage in our lives. Although we rarely use Babyworld these days (for one thing, we don’t really have babies anymore, as the youngest children in the group are nearly 4!), I for one am grateful to Babyworld for introducing me to the warmest, cleverest, funniest bunch of women I know.

Well if it had not been for the people here I would not have tested to see if I was pregnant, I was in complete denial. The advice from Sue Allen Mills has been most helpful, with me being on the June club and the girls on there r great. I would advise anyone who has problems or worries, or brilliant news, to join babyworld. Basically it has helped me out a lot, through tough and painful times, and it is always nice to have someone to speak to.

Greeting from Norway! Just found your internet site when I was “surfing”. It’s wonderful to see that the focus on breastfeeding has become important in the UK too!!! And that it is something to be proud of!!! Well done ”babyworld”!!!! I’m married to a Scotsman and I lived in Scotland for seven years, we moved to Norway when we were expecting our first child in 2001. Not once did I ever read or was told about the importance of breastfeeding, this is something I’m brought up with, just as natural as giving birth. Information and support is important for those that want to try breastfeeding – it’s important for a mother also to understand that she’s not a failure if she’s not able to do it. Anyhow, all I wanted to say is it’s great to read about the National Breastfeeding week!!!!!!! PS! I breastfed our daughter until she was 6 months old – it was hard to begin with, but there was nothing wrong with my will to try.

After a miscarriage and problems trying for my third child I found your website very interesting and I had regular contact with two other members. I still keep in contact with one member as we had a lot in common, we exchanged addresses and phone numbers and when we had our third child exchanged baby gifts. Firstly, let me say thank you for such a great site. I had a miscarriage 4 weeks ago and I have found tremendous support from the various forums on the site. It has been so helpful to “speak” to other women who have gone through the same experience and know how you are feeling. Secondly, I thought I would let you know that, through your site, I am now back in touch with my best friend from school! I have posted quite a few times on your site and have continued to use my maiden name. My friend Tracey recognised the surname and out of curiosity looked at my pregnancy diary to see if there were any hints as to whether I was who she thought I was! After a couple of days deliberating she posted a message on the forum for my attention. Imagine my surprise when I opened the message. We haven’t seen or spoken to each other in over 17 years!!! We were best friends from the age of 8 to 16 but lost touch when we went to seperate colleges. We’ve exchanged a few emails already but have got loads of news (17 years worth) to catch up on and it’s fantastic to be back in touch with her again. Thank you Babyworld! Once again, congratulations on your excellent site.

I have to say this is by far, in my opinion, the best baby site I’ve signed up to for info during pregnancy, chat support and being confident that there are others in the same position with possibly the same dilemas/ questions. I would have missed your site had a customer of mine not mentioned it. I do not recall seeing your details in the bounty packs! I’d also like to see in your newsletter any up to the minute deals by manufacturers for vouchers on nappies, baby food, other products etc. as I am sure you get bombarded by them all the time. Thanks for your weekly updates they have been most useful. Hoping now that I am well informed to conquer labour and bring baby into this world!

This site is an absolute Sanity Saviour! It’s wonderful to be able to chat to other mums and mums to be who are ready and willing to just listen to your fears and worries and who find the time and compassion to respond to you. Babyworld has been a lifesaver for me. My pregnancy was through IVF, which is in itself a fairly isolating experience. Add to this, that I am relatively new to this area and work quite a way away, and I needed support in many different ways. Babyworld has been there for me throughout my pregnancy when I hadn’t yet made any friends and I now recommend it to other mothers in my postnatal group.
