Constantly Terrified… (10 posts)

    Hiya,

I am 6+2 today. I went for a scan yesterday and was able to see my baby’s heartbeat :) it was just the most amazing thig I’ve ever seen. The problem is that I have turned into a wreck since my BFP and am just constantly worried. 24/7. I had a nap earlier and just as I was drifting off I had some sharp-ish pains that lasted about a minute. I know I’m probably over reacting and I’ve had no bleeding at all since my LMP. The trouble is that I am more scared of a MMC than a MC as I feel I could ‘handle’ knowing better than turning up at my next scan in 6 weeks time to hear that baby stopped growing. Is this totally irrational? I’m sorry but I am constantly worried and I’m driving DH crazy!! I swear if I could have a scan daily I would!! Would there be any signs of a MMC? Thanks in advance. A xxxxxx

    Hi,

How lovely you saw your baby’s heartbeat! Sorry to hear you are constantly worrying. How you are feeling is common, especially when you’ve been on a difficult journey to become pregnant. You are not irrational and you won’t be the only one feeling like this.

Unfortunately there are sometimes no symptoms of a missed miscarriage. Although they can be worrying, odd aches and pains, including period type pains and stitch type pains are very common in early pregnancy and they don’t mean there’s anything wrong. Try and take each day at a time at the moment. Could you try some relaxation techniques to help you relax in the meantime? All the best.

    Hi there

If I were you I’d do something nice to unwind, especially with other mums-to-be, such as pregnancy yoga or aqua-natal? Also, meditation and peaceful visualisations of a healthy baby are beneficial.

In my first tri, especially very early on, I was beside myself with worry, especially leading up to my 12 week scan, but learnt quickly that worry isn’t good for me or baby. The worry hasn’t completely gone away for me, pregnancy naturally brings so many different questions and fears, but now if something scary enters my thoughts and I’m asking a scary “what if…?” I just distract myself with something else.#

Hope this helps. Again, so happy you saw the little heartbeat, visualise it strong and healthy and any time you feel the fear, you have your BW friends to reassure you x

    Hi

I just thought I would write to say that ever since I saw my scan at 8+5, I have been a little bit scared as I do seem to get pains every now and then. I know that they are perfectly normal but it is hard not to worry. I think this stage of pregnancy seems to go really slowly too so it gives you more time to dwell on things. I have decided that I am going to start swimming to try and make me relax and to take my mind off things.

I hope you can find something to keep your mind occupied x

Thank you all so much! I really appreciate the comments and suggestions! I will definitely do some of them!! Feeling slightly better the last few days as my tiredness and sore boobs have hit extreme levels which has made me feel more positive (I think only a pregnant woman could ever say that lol!) So I’m feeling slightly better. I know I will probably be on edge right until my 12 week scan but I will use some of the ideas to help relax. Thanks for being there… Much Love. A xxxxxxxx

just wanted to say congratulations on the scan, fab news :-) its so hard to relax, and im afraid (for me) it didnt get much easier after 12weeks but i have found positive visualisation to be really helpful, i also had acupuncture (i was having it during treatment anyway) until about 20weeks and just tried to do lots of things i enjoyed (wasnt easy as my sickness lasted until 20weeks!), later in pregnancy i have had my daily bath which has been my saviour! i did yoga for a bit aswell. basically what im saying is dont worry about worrying, its normal and just try and do whatever makes you happy and relaxed as much as possible!!xxxx

Thank you!! I know I will worry all the way through as well. I’m a natural worrier and this is sending me into overdrive :( I’m just so happy and a little bit in disbelief still really I guess! I’m definitely going to do Yoga and swimming. I still don’t have any sickness and all you hear is ‘sickness means a healthy pregnancy’ so that’s something else to worry about!! Goodness me it doesn’t stop. Thanks again for all the advice and tips. Its lovely not feeling so alone xx

dont worry about no sickness, my sister didnt have any and her little girl is 2, she didnt know she was pregnant until about 10weeks. i also have a friend who had twins and didnt have any sickness or nausea, everyone responds to the hormones differently, theres still plenty of time for it too kick in too, but trust me, enjoy the lack of nausea :-) xxx
