Hi, if i went for an early scan and it said i was approximatly 6 weeks gestation, does that then mean i “conceived” 4 weeks ago, i know its probably a silly question that you have been asked a million times but im confused.

It’s not a silly question at all – pregnancy dating can be quite confusing! For ease of dating, pregnancy is classed from the first day of your last menstrual period, so if you actually conceived 4 weeks ago, you will be classed as 6 weeks pregnant. This is because although conception usually takes place about 2 weeks after your last menstrual period, pregnancy is dated from your last period, because this is the date most women will know rather than their conception date. So you are quite right, if you are dated at about 6 weeks, you will probably have conceived about 4 weeks ago. I hope this makes sense!
