Worried-eaten lamb that was pink in the middle (2 posts)

    Hi,
Went out to lunch today and had lamb that was very pink in the middle. It didn’t really cross my mind until i was half way through it that it might not be a good idea. This evening i feel fine, but i’ve read on the internet that toxoplasmosis can show up several weeks later. I am 9 weeks. Should i be worried? Thanks!

    Hi,

It’s unlikely you will get toxoplasmosis and cause harm to your baby from this one incidence of eating rare lamb. One third of women are actually already immune to toxoplasmosis, but if you are at all worried, then I would advise that you see your GP who may offer a blood test to test for toxoplasmosis. Babyworld has some more information here that you may find helpful http://babyworld.co.uk/questions/why-isnt-toxoplasmosis-routinely-tested-for/
