Rachel, I just wanted to let you know (if you don’t already) Aldi put a £5 off £40 spend in the Daily Mirror on the last Thursday of every month, if you like them on fb you’ll see it as they occasionally change the day due to bank holidays. We don’t buy any papers but [...]
I totally agree about the cigarettes, Kelly. That annoyed me too. And it annoys me when a couple of people that I know in real life constantly plead poverty yet still manage to find ‘fag money’. There are 5 of us and we usually spend around £100 per week on food. I go to Aldi [...]

Our local asda had a collection on but seems it was only on over Christmas. We have a tesco 5 mile away we never go there but I’ll ask hubby to check it out to see if we can donate a few bits.
Also, the programme made me feel sad but annoyed at the smoking too!
I think some of the people could have done with lessons on how to make the money go further with home cooked meals etc.
mrspurrfectcat Tescos have started having foodbank collection points & some churches make collections too, if you want to donate. We spend nearly £100 a week but like someone else said, we could do it for less if we needed too. When the recession hit we were spending £50 a week, with nappies, but it [...]
Totally agree kelly.
I know smoking is an addiction but you can get help for it to stop.
As a non smokers I don’t understand how you can spend money on cigarettes whilst struggling to put food on the table!
I am in the north east too. I spend around £100 per week for 2 adults and 5 children. That includes nappies and formula for the baby. I cook from scratch most days and buy a lot of fresh fruit and veg. I could do it for less if I had to though. Some of [...]
I live in the south and find that my weekly food bill varies between £30 and £50 a week depending on whether I buy luxuries or not!! I have my parents and brother in the same town as me and to be honest would not move unless my life was greatly improved Linda – [...]
I’m on minimum wage anyway, so would get the same wage wherever! It’s also cheaper just over the bridge in Cardiff, and my boss has said, if I want to get somewhere to rent over there, he can get me transferred to the Cardiff store, but it would mean leaving my family, and taking Zac [...]
Oh that is annoying. I think the wage is less up here near Newcastle one of hubbys friends said he wouldn’t get out of bed for less than £10ph in London I wish he got that, but a jobs a job & im thankful hes working hard
Definitely cheaper up north in general, and you don’t have to go all that far north for that to happen, my sister has a 3 bed house in Stoke, and paid less for it than it would cost for me to buy my 2 bed flat off my housing association, even including the discount I’d [...]
