Where to start?!? My son is 8 months and we’ve been weaning him since he was around 5 months old. I started him with baby porridges etc but they didn’t really agree with him because of the milk proteins in the powder – he isn’t lactose intolerant but milk has never agreed with him, not even comfort milk so now he has soya. Main problem is that he only likes very very smooth pureed food and usually only fruit. If i try to feed him anything textured or mashed he spits it out and makes a properly disgusted facial expression! He’s had rusks and baby biscuits to try and encourage him to finger feed but he just rubs the rusk on his gums and spits it out, and chokes on baby biscuits if they’re too crumbly. Typically he has a bottle in the morning, one in the afternoon and one around 6.30 after his bath – roughly 6oz – and also water, but lately its really hard to get him to have anything, he actually clamps his mouth shut to refuse the bottle. This last week though he’s started going to bed at 6.30 after not finishing his bottle and then waking up for another feed at 10 and then another any time between 12 and 5 which i can’t understand as he was sleeping through before?! Am i not feeding him enough in the day?? Can i give him baby juice to get him to take more fluids or is it really bad for his teeth?? And also, does anyone know if i can give him soya yoghurts etc at 8 months? He cut his first teeth early at 4 months (bottom two) and is currently cutting 4 of his top teeth which has got to be giving him grief, even though i use teething gel and give him regular calpol etc – could this be effecting his appetite too?? Please please if anyone can give me any advice I would be so grateful – clearly, im extremely new to this!!!
