Is it normal for the controlled crying technique to cause vomiting at bedtime?

I have used the controlled crying method for around ten years now with parents and children of various ages and I have occasionally heard of children actually vomiting during the process. I have never been quite sure what causes it, but the parents are often convinced that the child is doing it deliberately! I could understand if a child vomited during crying, but it often seems to be a form of protest. Either way, it is short-lived as long as you deal with correctly, and you seem to be doing that. Some parents will panic and revert to bad habits, but dealing with it in the quiet, relaxed manner you’re doing does help. Of course, we may be doing him an injustice. He may have caught a virus and be genuinely poorly. However, as long as he is OK in every other way, I would carry on dealing with it in the way you are doing.
