My wife and I have just had our second boy who is now 5 months old. We use Avent bottles to feed him and we are very disappointed. We have to use a White/blue ring as an added accessory. If at 3:00 am in the morning you have to prepare a feed and screw the teat on the bottle forgetting to insert the ring, then prepare to strip your baby down and change him. The bottles leak from the sides. Over all I thing it’s a bad design.

a friend bought these for me to use on my baby , the first two children id used avent and mothercare bottles but had trouble with the teats sometimes leaking so was happy to make the change to something new. my little one had an easy and stress free transition from breast to these bottles
the down side would have to be finding teats and replacement bottles , my baby absolutely loved these and refused other bottles, so it was hard when we couldnt find a local stockist!
cleaning these bottles is simple and quick
on the whole i would definately recommend these to other mums but make sure you can get replacements in good time

Breastflow bottles from The FIrst Years by Learning Curve.
With my first two children, I used Avent bottles when the time came for me to change from breast to bottle feeding and had no problems, however when I decided to introduce bottles to my six month old son, it was a differant story. He got angry with them and kept pulling the teat out of his mouth. I tried numerous differant teats and bottles with no luck untill I tried Breastflow bottles. With just a few attempts, he latched on and took 3oz. He took more at each feed and had no problems when put back to the breast.

Many bottles claim to be ‘closest’ to breast feeding but Breastflow bottles ‘work’ in a similar way to breast feeding. They have a double teat which require the baby to use compression as well as suction to get the milk. They use their tongue in the same way as when they are latched on to the breast and so they can control the flow the same way too. The outer teat is shorter and wider than all other teats I have seen (and more closely resemble a breast) and very very soft.
They have a very wide neck making them easy to prepare and only one aditional part to wash.
The only negative is they don’t seem to be widely availble, so I have stocked up on them.
I think they are fantastic bottles for women wishing to combine breast and bottle feeding or for if you want/need to move soley on to bottle feeding
