I received this thermometer just in time for my daughter’s third set of jabs, and the temperature which comes with them. I’d previously been using the tried and tested method of “mummy’s hand” to work out whether she had a temperature, but this was obviously more accurate!
With my other children, I’d used a Braun ear thermometer, and it was very good but rather large and it needed a seemingly never ending supply of covers for the ear probe.
The Graco version is a vast improvement on this. Not only does it not need ear probe covers, it is also much smaller, making it easy to hold and operate.
Using it is easy – you put the probe in the ear, press the button and wait around one second until it bleeps. The backlit display tells you the temperature reading, and also has a smiley face (if the temperature is ok) or a sad face (if it is high). If you don’t put it far enough in, and the reading is too low, the display reads ‘Lo’.
On the underside is a button marked ‘M’, and pressing it will give you the last ten temperatures taken, which is very useful if you are monitoring an illness.
The instructions for use are very clear, and the thermometer comes in a hard case, to protect it from any damage.
It’s definitely a good buy for any family – it is more accurate than a forehead strip thermometer and much easier and quicker to use than an in the mouth (or under the armpit) model.
