About the reviewer: Mother to 13 month old Dulcie Win
Short Title: Fun restraint for headstrong toddlers
Review:
I have been using this bag on and off over the last few weeks with my toddler Dulcie who has just started walking. Despite still being unsteady on her feet, she is prone to deciding on going somewhere and then shooting off like a rocket. This bag was a great help in ensuring she didn’t dash off whilst my back was turned.
The bag itself is really fun- obviously recognisable as a clownfish (Nemo) and Dulcie seemed to enjoy putting it on. There was no struggling anyway. Yet. The bag’s straps are adjustable to ensure a snug fit, and there is a clasp at the chest/wait to ensure it doesn’t move around.
There is enough room in the bag for a drink, dummy, gloves and hat (it was Autumn when I tested it) and there is an additional pocket at the top where a clownfish hood unfurls to protect your little one from unexpected showers.
Now, I have talked at length with my friends with children and there are mixed opinions on restraining a child. For my part, I welcome anything that is going to prevent Dulcie from dashing out in front of a car or running away in a busy shopping centre and this day sack ‘lead’ gives the child enough space to feel a level of independence – much better than traditional reins.
I am really happy with this day sack and prefer the novelty clown fish design to the more standard rucksack designs – Dulcie was excited by the bright orange colour which I think encouraged her to wear it. It’s great value when you think you can use this for years and years. A brilliant investment.
