The Pipila is a neat little sterilising unit which is great to pop into your changing bag should you need to sterlise a dummy while you are out. It is battery operated (requires 2 AAA batteries) and takes just 3 minutes to sterilse a dummy with the use of UV light.

The unit is very easy to operate, just put the dummy in and press down to activate the UV light and 3 minutes later your dummy is sterilised!

I absolutely love the funky design of the Pipila and was a little despondent that we wouldn’t get much use out of it but in fact we have used it quite a bit already when we were out and dropped Amelie’s dummy – 3 minutes in the Pipila and one happy baby!

I’m not sure we would get much use out of this at home as I tend to sterilise all the dummies and bottles together but to keep in your changing bag I think it is a great idea and it had huge appeal to my gadget mad husband!

I think the Pipila is over priced for what it is but it is a handy little unit to have and great for the gadget mad mums and dads out there.

About the reviewer: Mummy to a 7 month old
    Short Title: Great idea
    Review:
When I first opened to box to the Pipila and got it out I thought ‘what HAVE they sent me?’. It’s very strange looking, kind of like a mini space ship? but it also looks like a mini Pod steriliser…. I really like it as it seems very well made. Ours is green.

I read the instructions to see how everything worked and its very simple. You just need 2 AAA battries and a dummy! You put the teat of the dummy through a hole then press the base down until the UV light underneath comes on and pop the lid down for 3 minutes until the light goes off… thats it. It doesn’t move (as in vibrate or anything) and it doesn’t make a sound, which to be honest made me a little sceptical.

I love the idea of Pipila as my little one is forever throwing his dummy out of the pushchair when we’re out of the house so this is a better solution than having to take 100 spare dummies with you. However, for me there isn’t enough information on ‘how’ it sterilises. There is a simple diagram on the instructions but for me that isn’t enough. As it is such a different and new way of sterilising I personally would like to know more about how the UV light kills bacteria, after all I am trusting it to help keep my baby healthy.

I will use it as I trust that it has been tested that it really works but i’m not sure that i’d use it for a newborn personally, I would use now for my 7 month old.

One thing worries me about the UV light. It says not too look directly at it but there is no way of securely covering it when the Pipila is not in use. Just for the safety of possible other children who may get their hands on it maybe there could be a way of ‘locking’ the lid down when it is not in use.

Also it would be great if the lid was big enough to fit a bottle teat in as then it would be a great holiday buy. My little one will be very nearly 11 months when we go on holiday so we still need to sterilise the teat of the bottle and this would be much better than having to take sterilising tablets.

Overall I think it is a Fab idea but needs a little more information to go with it. Not sure I would pay
