The Hydrant : hands free drinking for mums
Hydration during Breastfeeding
The hydrant, aesthetically looks like a suction gadget from a hospital! Although very simple to use it doesn’t come with any instructions! It has two different lids one with a spout which you can suck from, the other a long plastic tube.
The long plastic tube makes the product unique. It allows you to use both hands to do what you need to. Therefore its fantastic when breast feeding as it can hang at the back of a chair or a bed. So once you’ve sat down you’ll have a drink ready. However the height at which it is kept when in use has to be higher to allow gravity to draw the water through the tube. Ie it can not be kept on the floor for use as the tube will not fill.
The mouth piece you bite on and suck to draw drink. This limits the life span of the product as it will need replacing periodically. As once this has been used the seal will go which in turn means it will leak.
The tube is very difficult to clean. Which means that its use is limited to water. Due to the lack of instructions I’m not sure if the product is dishwasher safe or bpa free.
I would definitely recommend this product to any person convalescing or to breastfeeding mother. I think its good value for money.

I took the hydrant in to hospital with me and it honestly hasn’t been out of reach since. Breastfeeding gives you an insatiable thirst but a new baby means you don’t have the time to fill endless cups or bottles. The hydrant is easy to grab, easy to put down and easy to drink from – ideal when your hands are holding baby and your mind is frazzled.

About the reviewer: Mother of 3
Short Title: Excellent
Review:
I used the hydrant with my third child and the difference was fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone. Also another use, an elderly relative was very ill and weak and finding it difficult to drink, we brought it into hospital for her to use when it became obvious she was not getting the help she required. She continued using it when she was discharged, I really believe it aided her recovery.

About the reviewer: Mother of a 20 month old girl
Short Title: A must-have after a c-section
Review:
I had a c-section and was in hospital for 3 nights and 3 days. The hydrant was invaluable, because I could not move and I needed a constant flow of water whilst recovering and breast-feeding for the first time. It is an excellent product. If I am lucky enough to have any more children it will be a must-have in my maternity bag.
