What a fantastic invention!!! I had wanted to get one of these when I had my son but my mum didn’t like the idea of a baby in a bucket and really gave me a hard time- so I went with a bog standard bath.
So gutted!!! This time round I got my ‘bucket’ and wow- my daughter loves it so much, I actually feel guilty for not allowing my son the same bath experience she is enjoying.
She cannot sit independently outside the tub yet but the way the bath holds her allows me to be hands off and she sits and splashes and giggles and has the time of her life. My mum even had to admit she was wrong- now thats something!!!!

    Short Title: terriable product
    Review:
I am so very sad about this product. I received the Tummy Tub as a gift for my new little boy and I dislike this product so much. I’m wondering how many parents really like this product. First of all why are we putting the baby back in a tub of water in the first place. That to me is regression. Second of all trying to hold a very slippery baby’s head out of the water is a nightmare. I broke out in a cold sweat trying to keep my baby from going under the water. I think this company better have some major insurance on this product as I see it is nothing but a huge liability. I feel this should come off the market. People are not the smartest in the world and I’m sure some of you think this is a great idea but really think about what you are doing. You are putting this tiny baby in a bucket of water and having to hold his or her head out of the water so they don’t drown. This is the most crazy product on the market as of yet I have seen. Please think twice before doing this. This is CRAZY!!

Short Title: B&Q bucket just as good – and cheaper!
    Review:
I loved the idea of a tummy tub and felt that for a new-born baby it was a secure way of them being submerged and warm, whilst in a smaller area than a bath.

I felt the price of the real tummy tub was excessive, and found a fantastic clear bucket with no sharp edges from B&Q for £1.50. The other advantage of this, other than price, was that as a bucket it had a handle so was much easier to lift and move around as necessary, especially when full.

Overall Verdict: really good for introducing babies to water
    Best Feature: great for newborns
Worst Feature: hard with two kids
    Review:
We found the tummy tub really good for both of our boys when they were first born.
I know that the marketing for the product says that it puts the baby in the foetal position therefore it comforts them. I can only say that our boys did seem to relax and enjoy bathtime when we put them in the tummy tub.

As it only needs a small amount of water in it, the tummy tub was quicker than filling the big bath and therefore a lot easier to regulate the temperature.
The only problem was that it was a lot more difficult to bathe both children when the littlest was in the tummy tub than when they were both in the big bath together.

    Short Title: Disappointing
    Review:
I had heard good things about Tummy Tub and liked the idea, as did my daughter at first. I agree with the other reviewers that it is very awkward with a newborn to support the head and clean them as well as finding a suitable surface as the floor is back-breaking! Unfortunately at 10 weeks my daughter started to scream when placed in the tub, as though her legs were being squashed and she stretched herself out to almost standing so that I was afraid of tipping. We only persevered a few nights after this, but since we have been in the big bath she has loved it. Another big car-wash bucket here.

    Short Title: Great item!
    Review:
I top and tailed Ollie for the first few weeks until I was confident to put him in the bath. The tummy tub was fantastic, to start with I supported his head but as time went on he was able to do it himself. The product came into it’s own when he had trapped wind as the warm water and the upright position help it come out easily. I will be keeping it for the next baby. I think perhaps it is a little over priced at £20, I would think £14.99 might make it more appealing to a wider market??

    Short Title: Highly Recommended
    Review:
I first came across these while training for my job so when I was expecting my second child I decided I would give it a go. This has been wonderful.

Basically my son can sit up in it, the water cools more slowly and he spends all his time in it giggling at me. I can understand why some people may find it a little dificult to use if they aren’t used to handling babies, but like anything it’s a question of confidence. Personally I have found it easier as my son can’t accidentally slide across the bottom of it, he just sits happily with his legs curled up.

I had a caesarean so I found the easiest thing to do was stand it in the bath and then sit on a small stool at the side of the bath to wash my son. With my first son bathtimes were quite traumatic for both of us but with the tummy tub they have been a real joy.

Evie was very frightened of the big bath but fell asleep in the tummy tub! It is a much more comforting experience for the newborn and as she has got bigger can almost sit up unattended (nearly 6mths). It is easy to move around so she has been bathed in a variety of places and easy to empty etc. I would definitely recommend this….

    Review:
My partner insisted we buy this before baby was born, I was very sceptical and was not convinced that a bucket was a suitable baby bath. And then Ted was born and he has absolutely loved it since day two.

It is quick to fill, stays warm and has provided hours of fun for us all. It guarantees a smiley baby whatever his mood!

It has been everywhere with us, even to the south of france where Ted enjoyed bathing in the garden. Absolute must have, worth every penny.

Short Title: Must for colic sufferers
    Review:
This has been invaluable to us as the parents of an eight week old who has suffered colic from eight days old!

Being immersed in the water in the foetal position relaxes her instantly and allows all of the day’s wind to escape and a whole load of other stuff too! (Sorry tmi!) She can sit easily in it for fifteen to twenty minutes quite content.

It is a good size and will last for another few months to come, and its easy to fill and empty.

I initially thought this was very expensive for a glorified bucket, but for us it has been worth every penny.

Short Title: Great for Colic and screaming fits
    Review:
I must admit for baths we got better use out of the plastic reclining seat. BUT the Tummy Tub was indispensable for colic and unexplicable screaming fits and for a dunk after exploding poo nappies!!! It’s so much quicker to fill than a bath and there are no taps to bash heads on or to be too hot or cold when a quick wash is needed after a nappy explodes. It’s great for filling up and putting on a waterproof mat on the sitting room floor when baby is crying inexplicably. I found my daughter would stop crying the instant I put her in it.
I also found I had to put less water in than recommended as all my daugher wanted to do was drink it! I do think it is expensive for what it is.
But if you have a colicy baby or a high need baby I would highly recommend it.

About the reviewer: Mummy to Amber 8 months
Short Title: My best baby buy
    Review:
We only discovered the Tummy Tub when Amber was 8 weeks old and i must say it has been a brilliant buy. Amber had eczema so when its bad we bathed twice a day and i was very aware of how much water the big bath uses when you need to cover the baby in water. Amber loved having a bath in her tub as she was well cocooned.

I have put ease of use at 4 stars as it took a few goes to work out how much water is needed we marked the tub to help.

I do feel that £18.00 is a little expensive, but then baby baths cost around the same !!!

    Review:
I saw these when i was pregnant and had to have it! I have a pink glittery one and thought it was a great idea. However I found it extremely hard to use with my newborn little girl as its awkward to hold her in it, especially while she can’t support her head by herself. I think it might be easier for someone who is experienced with babys rather than 1st time mums who are naturally more nervous. I am keeping my Tummy Tub though until my baby can support her head a bit more as i still think its a great idea, hopefully she will like it!

Millie was a little too little at first, so bathing her was a 2 man job – but now she loves it. She splashes, and loves bobbing up and down, and the picture opportunities are priceless! And if shes ever on a mad screaming session its instant bliss and quietness – A must have

My daughter absolutely adores this -mind you she’s a real water baby. It was a bit tricky when she was very tiny and took two of us to bath her in it. However, now she’s bigger it’s the best thing ever as she adores being in more water than she would be in the normal bath. She can sit in this on her own quite happily and splash without us having to support her. However, having just found her feet it’s become interesting bathing her when all she wants to do is stick her feet in the air and grab them, therefore the rest of her slips down into the water!

My son loves having a bath in his tummy tub, it was tricky when he was a new born as you need both hands to support your baby and another to wash with, but once they gain some neck control its a doddle. With this product bathtimes take a fraction of the time. It takes less than a minute to fill and stays warm much longer than a normal bath. My son is now 9 months, is of average size and has no trouble fitting into his tub.

I first spotted the Tummytub when pregnant with my 3rd child. I was a bit dubious at first sight but I was very interested so bought it. Wow it’s great! After the normal baby bath experience with my first 2 what a relief. No struggling with a great big bath filled with water splashing all over etc. The tummytub is easy to handle and the babies love it. My son was relaxed and used to often fall asleep in the bath. I was so pleased with the tummytub I bought one for my sister in law and have bought one for my friends baby. Their babies loved it too!

About the reviewer: Mother of Emily, 6 months
    Short Title: Baby hated this!
    Review:
I had read other reviews of this that made it sound like a must-have item. I wish I hadn’t bothered!

I tried to use it from birth but Emily hated it. She was a colicky baby and I bought this because it was meant to help with colic, but it had no effect at all.

It was quite difficult to get the temperature of the water right, because it doesn’t have a plug-hole so you can’t let any water out so you can add any more hot/cold water. There are gradients marked on the side of the tub which tell you how much water to put in, depending on whether you want your baby to “float” or sit in the water. I did not think these were very accurate and ended up putting too much water in.

It is also heavy to lift when filled, which I found difficult because I’d had a caesarean.

When I put Emily in the bath she was in a very scrunched-up position and cannot move or splash about, and she wasn’t a big baby. It is described as being like in the womb, but I don’t agree with that statement.

You are supposed to be able to use it for up to a year old, but Emily is 6 months old now and she wouldn’t fit in it. She could push herself up with her legs in it at an early age and I thought it would fall over. She also cried every time I put her in it.

I gave up with the tub in the end and bought a Summer Infant bath support which you use in the big bath. Emily loved it from day 1!

The tummy tub is just a glorified mixing bowl or bucket and is expensive at

This product is a great idea, it allows your baby to sit chest deep in water and gives you two hands to wash them. The only problem is with a tiny baby its quite difficult to get both hands in to hold the baby support the head and wash them. However once the baby can support its head it solves all the niggles and bath time is much more fun!

Overall Verdict: I wouldn’t trade my tub for anything
Best Feature: Makes bathtime a breeze
Worst Feature: Doesn’t pack down into a suitcase easily!
    Tested for: 11 months
    Review:
The whole family loves this bath – we call ours ‘the bucket’ and Xander ‘bucket boy’ because he loves his tub so much. He had his first bath in 48 hours after he was born and has loved it from that moment. It is very easy to bath him, probably because he enjoys it so much. It has meant that other family members have been keen to get involved in bath time and there have been no tears, just smiles and chuckles!

There are two bathing ‘positions’ – floating or sitting. Xander has a sit-down bath in the mornings as a nice start to the day and a relaxing floaty soak to end the day. It doesn’t use up much water or take any time to fill and the water stays lovely and warm for a good 15 minutes which is especially useful in the evenings when I want to settle Xander for a good sleep.
I currently just pop the tub in the kitchen sink to bath him as it is the perfect height for me, no bending over and straining my back. When he was much smaller I had the tub on the floor (just in case I dropped a slippy baby!) and have also used it in the big bath and on the kitchen table.

I know it’s not the ‘norm’ as far as baby baths go, but it is just so easy to use. The fact that it was designed to mimic the womb environment and that babies like the warm confines of it makes perfect sense to me – I am recommending it to everyone I know – pregnant or not!
